Eyeless Jack X Intelligent Reader - Chapter 21
Well, I did not think this through.
Currently, an unconscious and bloody Jack was propped awkwardly over my back and shoulders. Surprisingly, he was pretty light for how strong he seemed – but still. I was at my max carrying his weight. I took a deep breath and dragged him towards the back door of my apartment complex. I can’t believe I had already dragged him from a block away! And what was crazier was that no one noticed! I guessed the streets should be pretty empty this late at night…
I propped the heavy metal door open and shoved Jack inside, following closely and quietly. Heaving his weight upon

You groaned as light fluttered across your eyelids. Your body ached and the reason why eluded you at first but you quickly came to your senses as your eyes snapped open and you attempted to jerk upright. The attempt failed as you slammed back onto the flat surface of an examination table. Your wrists were bound but your body felt too heavy to move, a sensation you hadn’t felt in a long time and one you deeply hated. “Masume-!” you growled.
“Nuh uh uh! Don’t strain yourself too much, ___. I wouldn’t want you to get hurt.” Masume’s smug

Another laugh bubbled up from my throat and I clutched my midsection to stop the painful jarring of the vertical cut down my abdomen. Blindingly giddy emotions surged in my chest, fueling my sprint and my acute desire to test both of our limits. I stumbled a little on the damp pavement as my feet propelled me through the night, regaining my balance quickly. Hearing distant chuckling, I glanced back to see Jack keeping pace with me. I smiled nervously, mind swinging back and forth between this guy nearly killed and this guy basically let me go only to chase me again. The situation would make anybody want to laugh.

The papery blue wings of the creature tickled the bridge of your nose, its barely perceptible tiny legs landing on the tip. A giggle escaped your parted lips as you held out a small finger for the butterfly to perch upon delicately.
“Isn’t it beautiful, Henry? It’s just… living.” you sighed wistfully and set the creature free with a slight puff of air from your lips.
The boy turned to you with a woven crown of lilies and some odd wildflowers in his small white hands. He smiled with his eyes squeezed closed and placed the crown atop your (h/c) locks.

“You’re cold.”
The pseudo-human slightly shifted his ruby red gaze over to the body curled up in his side, cocooned in a warm checkered wool blanket like a little puppy. His chest started to rise and fall in a faster motion than usual, bringing a childish pout onto the other’s tired visage.
“You’re perfectly aware that I can’t really help it.”
“Yeah, but... You could at least try to cuddle with me.”
He felt the teen shuffling even closer to his figure, an adorable frown adorning their face in mock resentment.
Heat rapidly rushed to his head at the mere sight of

”It’s okay to be afraid...”
”It’s okay to feel the way you do...”
Is it really...?
Is it really okay to succumb to fear?
I perceive a soft rumble of thunder, rain pattering on the cracked glass of the window. Frigid air surrounds the empty room, and a dank, musty smell violates my nostrils. The springs of the old couch I lay across prod and poke various limbs.
But, the primary discomfort I sense, the only pain truly agonizing me dominates my chest, the rapid beating of my heart, the throbbing in my skull.
All around me melds into an engulfing blackness.
I cannot...

~Your POV~
You had gotten through the day without an incident, going from one class to another as best as you could. You only had to see Karkat a couple of times, which, of course, was more than you wanted to. You didn’t want to go back to the dorms quite yet. The breeze was so nice, and the walk you had taken the previous day had been interrupted. The sun was beginning to set again, and the sky was beautiful. The wind tousled your (h/c) hair and you closed your (e/c) eyes, relishing the moment, the feeling.
You felt empty. This was no question. You had felt it the moment you had woken

Author's Note: This was...a tough one to write, so it'll probably be hard to read, too. :( Just a warning.
"It's been a while, Borea. How...how have you been?"
Kale was trying to smile, she really was, but the sight of her daughter in a hospital gown was not encouraging. Even worse was the catheter sticking out of the neckline of her gown. Had things really gotten that bad?
"Okay. Had a bad spell a week ago when the room's computer panel went on the blink and the temperature controls of the room totally broke. Kuriza really tore them a new one over that! I ended up getting all kinds of medication and...and it just wasn't fun. If

“Oi _______! A lovely day we’re having today, wouldn’t you agree?” Brook called cheerily, taking long leaping strides across the deck to reach your side.
“Yes, I suppose!” You nodded with a smile. “The sea breeze smells wonderful, and even the heat of the sun feels so welcoming.
“Ah yes~! All too good with the complimentary colours of deep blues and pinks, the elegant emerald greens of the sea mixing in with the orange of the setting sun and- oh, oh my I seem to have gotten carried away. I’m so sorry _______!” Brook corrected suddenly, realizing what he had just said.
